Iron Man (film) (2008) Review

Iron Man

Iron Man is a wonderful film in 2008, it is one of the most popular films being talked by many people. Here we are going to talk about it.

According to Wikipedia:

Iron Man is a 2008 superhero film based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name. Directed by Jon Favreau, the film stars Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark, a billionaire industrialist and master engineer who builds a powered exoskeleton and becomes the technologically advanced superhero, Iron Man. Gwyneth Paltrow plays his personal assistant Pepper Potts, Terrence Howard plays military liaison James Rhodes and Jeff Bridges plays Stark Industries executive Obadiah Stane.

Iron Man belongs to those exciting films, people who are seeking exciting experience will love it very much, you will be shocked by its wonderful scene and amazing sound if you watch it in cinema. Actually, good film should be watched in cinema, you can’t feel very good on your PC.

Iron Man” is rated PG-13 (Parents strongly cautioned). It has a lot of action violence, none of it especially graphic or gruesome. Also, Iron Man has sex, and not with the suit on. But not completely naked either.

The plot of this movie is not complicated, but it is very interesting, here it is: When wealthy industrialist Tony Stark is forced to build an armored suit after a life-threatening incident, he ultimately decides to use its technology to fight against evil.

Here are some great quotes from this movie, let’s enjoy:

Tony Stark: I feel like you’re driving me to court martial. This is crazy. What did I do? I feel like you’re gonna pull over and snuff me. What, you’re not allowed to talk? Hey, Forest…
Jimmy: We can talk, sir.
Tony Stark: Oh, I see. So it’s personal.
Ramirez: No, you intimidate them.
Tony Stark: Good God, you’re a woman! I honestly, I couldn’t have called that. I mean, I would apologize, but isn’t that what we’re going for here? I thought of you as a soldier first.
Ramirez: I’m an airman.
Tony Stark: Well you have actually excellent bone structure there. I’m kinda having a hard time not looking at you now. Is that weird?

Very cool dialogs, right? I like them!

Now let’s take a look at what other people say about this film:

As a movie based off a comic book, I feel this is definitely one of the better ones in this field. Even if you have no idea what Iron Man is about besides a man in a “gold-titanium allow suit” fighting off bad guys, the crew (Jon Favreau, Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Terrence Howard, and the rest that worked on this movie) definitely helped you with the background of Tony Stark and his way on to becoming Iron Man while keeping it PG-13 for the kiddies. (Such as leaving out Stark’s fight with alcoholism and kept the babe-magnet idea down to a minimum, I’d say). I’d have to agree with you though, if you look at the overall plot of the movie, it’s just like every comic book gone movie. But at least this one had more depth than the others. You get more pulled into his life from making weapons to saving the world in a suite of armor.

Downey’s acting was superb in this movie. You could definitely feel that he was Tony Stark. The only issue I had with his acting is when he was on the plane and was supposed to be drunk. I felt when he was acting drunk, it seemed way too fake, too 2-dimensional and you could tell he was just kind of rambling. I think Terrence Howard did an excellent job as the sidekick to Downey, really didn’t have any problems with him. Gwyneth Paltrow was perfect to play Pepper Potts as well, felt she flowed well with Downey in their ‘love connection’. She was sassy in an intellectual way; for instance, when she told the reporter that she occasionally takes out the trash.

Overall, as you can tell, I was very happy about this movie. This is the only movie that pulled me into comics, when I was in Virginia I actually bought a book about the history of Iron Man and the people that made it. I can not wait to see what Iron Man does in the next movie, maybe he’ll fight against The Hulk in his Hulkbuster armor! Who knows? But I’ll definitely be in the movie theater to find out.

Fortunately, I’m not one easily influenced by some users’ negative comments. These people should try to restrain their bias opinions and try to review the movies as neutrally as possible.

Now I would say that this movie has slow but steady momentum-building. It is a movie for people who has never known Iron Man in the comic series. The characters are given names and personalities, true to their comic book counterparts.

Acting was among the best comic-turn movie I have seen so far. Effects were believable and not overwhelmingly CGI, except for the tank scene.

So what do you think about Iron Man? Have you watched it?
